Pumas UNAM moved up to fifth on the Liga MX table despite leaving it late to beat Pachuca 2-1 on Saturday.

Efrain Velarde put Pumas ahead just after half-time but Pachuca levelled the scores just three minutes later through Paulo da Silva.

The game appeared to be heading for a draw before Javier Cortes scored the match winner six minutes from time to give Pumas their fifth win of the year.

Queretaro missed the chance to move into the finals places after they were beaten 2-1 by Cruz Azul.

An early goal from Diego de la Torre put Queretaro in front but they could not hold on as Nicolas Bertolo and Javier Orozco both struck in the second half to give Cruz Azul victory.

A disappointing America could only manage a 1-1 draw with lowly Puebla. Felix Borja put Puebla in front just after the hour but Miguel Layun struck 10 minutes later to ensure both sides left with a share of the spoils.

There were three scoreless draws in Saturday’s other action, with league-leaders Tigres UANL sharing the spoils with Leon, Atlas and Morelia doing likewise and Tijuana and Santos Laguna also failing to break the deadlock in their clash.
