Liga MX leaders Tigres UANL were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw at home to Santos Laguna in the Clausura on Saturday.

The visiting Santos Laguna took the lead in the second minute through a stunning Carlos Quintero strike, his powerful effort from outside the area on the right flying over a helpless Enrique Palos.

Juninho levelled for Tigres eight minutes before half-time, controlling a cross in the area and burying a half-volley into the corner.

With just one win in their past three, Tigres have seen their lead at the top cut to one point, with America sitting second.

America missed their chance to go top as they too were held, drawing 2-2 at home to Toluca.

Xavier Baez put Toluca ahead in the 18th minute before America looked to be headed for victory after Raul Jimenez and Osvaldo Martinez got on the scoresheet, the latter from the penalty spot.

But Toluca levelled in the dying stages through Carlos Gerardo Rodriguez.

Leon recorded their first win of the season as goals from Edwin Hernandez and Yovanny Arrechea saw them to a 2-0 victory over fellow strugglers San Luis.

Atlas jumped into third thanks to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Monterrey, while Pachuca were 2-1 winners against Cruz Azul.
