United keen on Watkins

While Rasmus Hojlund might have impressed many around Old Trafford after completing a £72million move from Atalanta last summer, it appears that Manchester United have another striking option on their wishlist ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Although Man City record-breaker Erling Haaland might be cruising his way to consecutive Golden Boots, Ollie Watkins has enjoyed his own remarkable flurry this season and finds his stock at a red-hot high.

Sat firmly in the driving seat to be the deputy to Harry Kane at this summer’s European Championships, the England international has cemented his spot as one of the Premier League’s elite marksmen.

Registering 19 top-flight strikes this season and spearheading Aston Villa’s charge to a famous Champions League return, the one-time Brentford starlet appears to be attracting plenty of heavyweight interest.

Despite previous links to Arsenal this summer, talkSPORT reported this week that Manchester United have identified Watkins as a leading transfer target and is admired by new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Diaz plays down a move away from Anfield

Although Liverpool might have confirmed that they have no intention of letting attacking icon Mohamed Salah leave this summer, there has been continued speculation over Luis Diaz’s future at Anfield.

However, while it might have been reported over the past few weeks that French giants PSG are keen on making a summer move for the Colombia international, Diaz has played down speculation that he is planning for life outside of the Premier League.

With new boss Arne Slot set to officially come in and replace Jurgen Klopp next month, it appears that the 27-year-old will play a leading role as Liverpool get a new era underway at Anfield.

Stating this week that “great years are coming” for the Premier League giants, Diaz has gained plenty of plaudits since arriving in a £49million deal from Porto in January 2022.

With it reported that the Anfield hierarchy are keen on offering the 47-cap international a new deal, Diaz has recorded eight Premier League strikes this season.

Mateta attracting plenty of major interest

While Oliver Glasner might have only arrived at Crystal Palace back in February, the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss has enjoyed an astonishing start to life in south London.

With the Eagles mustering 16 points from their previous six Premier League appearances, Palace have continued to skyrocket their way up the table and still have the chance to claim a top-half finish.

Gaining a recent reputation for their free-scoring performances in the final third, a huge part of Palace’s success over the past few months has come thanks to the red-hot Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Including consecutive Premier League braces against West Ham and Newcastle last month, the ex-Mainz striker has now notched 10 top-flight goals since the start of February.

Although Palace might have made it abundantly clear that they are not willing to part ways with their attacking talisman this summer, it has been reported this week that both Napoli and PSG are planning respective moves when the window reopens.

Arsenal join the race for Pickford

Although Everton might have enjoyed a stunning purple patch since returning from March’s international break, it is no secret that the Toffees are dealing with a string of public issues behind the scenes at Goodison Park.

Hit with two separate points deductions this season and suggested that further sanctions could be waiting down the pipeline, Everton are expected to part ways with a number of their most valuable assets this summer.

Alongside continued speculation over Jarrad Branthwaite’s future in the blue half of Merseyside, it has been suggested that Jordan Pickford is attracting plenty of interest ahead of what could be a blockbuster summer move.

While England’s number-one goalkeeper might have only signed a new contract extension with Everton last year, the former Sunderland shot-stopper could help Dyche’s side raise some crucial funds.

Although it has been reported over the past few months that Chelsea have been keeping close tabs on Pickford’s situation, TEAMtalk suggested this week that Arsenal have identified the English ace as a leading target to replace Aaron Ramsdale.

Royal set for a Spurs exit

Officially watching their Champions League ambitions go up in smoke on Tuesday night as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at home against Manchester City, Tottenham are certainly limping their way over the finishing line.

Remarkably losing five of their previous six Premier League appearances, Ange Postecoglou certainly cut a frustrated figure in midweek and was critical of Spurs’ ambitions.

With Tottenham continuing to show a host of defensive issues and recording just a sole Premier League clean sheet since opening the New Year, Postecoglou’s side are expected to have a hectic summer behind the scenes.

Now left as an unused substitute in each of Tottenham’s last two top-flight appearances, it was reported this week that Emerson Royal has likely made a final appearance for Spurs and will be pushed out of the north London exit.

Struggling to hold down a regular spot in Postecoglou’s starting XI this season and only featuring in just three of Tottenham’s last 11 outings, Italian giants AC Milan are reportedly keen on completing a potential cut-price deal.
