Ligue 1 wrap: Toulouse leave it late as Lorient, Nice cruise

Emmanuel Riviere marked his Toulouse debut with a late winner to seal a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Bordeaux in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

The former St Etienne forward scored in stoppage time to break the deadlock as Toulouse continued their strong start to the season.

Bordeaux looked to be in complete control at half-time, with a brace from Malian striker Cheick Diabate handing them a two-goal cushion.

But Toulouse emerged reinvigorated after the interval and were back on level terms just before the hour mark thanks to goals from Franck Tabanou and Etienne Capoue.

The match swung in the 75th minute when Bordeaux goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso was given his marching orders for a foul on Tabanou.

Reserve goalkeeper Abdoulaye Keita was able to save the resulting penalty after being brought on for midfielder Abdou Traore, but Toulouse eventually made their numerical advantage count late in the match when Riviere scored the winner.

In other matches on Saturday, a brace from 28-year-old Jeremie Aliadiere – the first two goals of his Ligue 1 career – helped Lorient to a 3-0 win over St Etienne while Argentine defender Luciano Monzon scored two goals from the penalty spot in Nice’s 3-0 win over newly promoted AC Ajaccio.

Two goals from Gregory Pujol and others from Gael Danic and Renaud Cohade powered Valenciennes to a 4-0 thumping of Dijon FCO, Auxerre and Caen drew 1-1, while a brace from Olivier Giroud helped Montpellier claim a 2-2 draw at Brest.
