Knowing that three points this weekend could see them break into the Champions League positions, Lille will make the trip to the Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Nantes may have shocked many across France by picking up a 3-1 win over another Champions League hopeful in Marseille last weekend, it does not cover what has been a worrying run for Christian Gourcuff’s side. With just a sole victory to their name since the 12th of January, a huge part of Nantes’ recent issues has come down to some glaring problems on home soil. Remarkably without a win at the Stade de la Beaujoire since opening the New Year, the Canaries have lost six of their last seven appearances in front of their own supporters and this weekend could be another long afternoon for a Nantes defence showing some real frailties.

As for the visitors, bouncing back from their defeat against Marseille a fortnight ago and picking up a 3-0 win over Toulouse last weekend, the mood in Lille’s camp remains at a high. With a Champions League spot at the top of their agenda, Christophe Galtier’s side have won four of their last five outings in France’s top-tier. Picking up a 2-1 win over Nantes earlier in the season, one man to keep an eye out for on Sunday will certainly be leading marksman and attacking talisman, Victor Osimhen. Finding the net in back-to-back matches against Angers and Marseille earlier in the month, the 21-year-old has already collected 17 goals so far this season.
