The Guardian understands that Liverpool are eyeing a summer move for Southampton forward Sadio Mane.
Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze was long believed to be their number one target, but the player ultimately decided to remain at Allianz Arena and attempt to impress new coach Carlo Ancelotti.
As a result, the Reds appear to have turned their attention to Southampton’s Sadio Mane, who continues to be heavily linked with a summer exit.
Liverpool have yet to submit an official proposal for the Senegalese hotshot, but it is believed he would cost well over the £20 million they planned to pay for Gotze.
Sadio Mane has had his share of ups and downs this season, but he eventually proved his worth at St Mary’s, bagging a total of 15 goals.
However, it would seem as though his spell with the Saints is drawing to a close, with Liverpool clearly the favourites for his signature.
