Ryan Gravenberch played a huge part in Liverpool’s run to the Premier League title last season, revamped in a new role by Arne Slot, this term, even though there’s no disputing the quality of players like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Florian Wirtz and Curtis Jones, Slot’s team doesn’t look the same without the Netherlands international on the pitch.7
The 23-year-old starred in the Merseyside Derby last week, scoring a fantastic opener and assisting Hugo Ekitike for what turned into the winner, as Everton pulled one back in the second half. He has grown into a highly versatile midfielder, tasked primarily with the metronome role in the middle of the park, but perfectly able and willing to make runs into the opposition box to cause mayhem.
Gravenberch is still on the same five-year contract he signed upon arriving from Bayern Munich in 2023, and his future is secure at this point. However, according to TalkSport, the club hierarchy feels his continuous contribution should be rewarded with new, significantly more lucrative terms.
