Germany coach Joachim Loew says Sami Khedira was not seriously injured during Germany’s 6-1 thrashing of the Republic of Ireland in Dublin.
The Real Madrid midfielder was taken off at half-time and replaced by Toni Kroos during Friday’s match with a leg injury.
But Loew has provided German and Real fans with some reassuring news about the 25-year-old.
“I think we took him (Khedira) off at half-time before anything got completely broken,” Loew said.
“Khedira still has a problem, but there is nothing broken. We have to wait two or three days (before we know more).”
The news will also be of relief to Real coach Jose Mourinho as his side look to haul themselves back into the Liga title race following the international break.
Khedira played the full 90 minutes of Real’s 2-2 draw with Barcelona and has made a total of five league appearances so far this season.
