Catania striker Maxi Lopez has opened the door for a move to AC Milan, admitting he is flattered by the Serie A champions’ interest in him.
Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said this week the 27-year-old Argentine was a player suitable for his club, and Catania’s chief executive Pietro Lo Monaco said he would not stand in the way of a move.
Lopez said he is eager to discover what is on offer at San Siro as Milan continue to look for an alternative to Antonio Cassano, who is out for up to six months after undergoing heart surgery.
“I am tranquil, but it would please me if in future there is a chance to join one of the biggest clubs in Europe,” Lopez told Sky Sport Italia.
“I want to say thank you for the way Milan are thinking about me. They have so many great players in the squad.”
“But, for now I am thinking about my work with Catania. We will see what happens in January.”
Lopez was part of the Catania side that were thumped 4-0 by his potential suitors last week in Serie A.
The Sicilians are sitting eighth in Serie A and face Chievo after the international break.
