With Jack Grealish, James McAtee and Savinho set to leave, Manchester City need reinforcements in wide attacking areas, and according to Fabrizio Romano, they’re now considering a move for Pep Guardiola’s ‘dream target’ Rodrygo Goes of Real Madrid. The Spanish giants would be open to a sale, but only if the player wants to leave and their valuation of €100million is met.
Rodrygo was previously linked with Liverpool and Arsenal. It was first said he was considered by Liverpool as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah if the Egyptian didn’t sign a new contract – which he eventually did. The subsequent sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich could’ve opened the door for Rodrygo as well, but it’s now believed that the Merseysiders are actually satisfied with having Cody Gakpo and 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha as options on the left attacking flank.
Arsenal, on the other hand, were believed to be considering Rodrygo as an option in case either Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard left. However, both wingers are still at the club, so no concrete steps have been taken as of yet.
And it seems Manchester City could benefit from the respective situations of their rivals, providing they persuade the 24-year-old Brazilian to leave Madrid and pay Real’s asking price.
