Mancini will not swap Aguero for Higuain

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has rejected suggestions of a swap deal that would see him lose Sergio Aguero to Real Madrid.

Reports in the Spanish media suggest that the La Liga giants are keen on signing City’s Argentine forward, who has starred in his first season at the club.

The potential deal would see Aguero’s compatriot Gonzalo Higuain move the other way but Mancini laughed off the suggestions and insisted his player would be going nowhere.

“Higuain is another top player, but we don’t want to sell Aguero for anything,” Mancini said.

“It’s impossible for us to sell him. He will stay here, but if Higuain wants to come here, then we are happy.”

Aguero has scored 21 goals for Manchester City in all competitions this season and has quickly established himself as a fan favourite at Etihad Stadium.

And even though Mancini revealed that he signed the 23-year-old to replace Carlos Tevez, he believes the two can work together in the club’s attempt to win the English Premier League.

“When we bought Aguero, we thought Tevez would leave the club,” he said.

“I know him and I followed him a lot last year. But Aguero, Tevez and Mario Balotelli could all play together. We would have to work very hard, but they could play together.”

“If Carlos is performing in two weeks, he will be valuable for us for the last six or seven games. I think he needs a minimum of another two weeks training and during those two weeks it is important he plays in two or three games for the reserves.”

“He will play in the reserves next week and I don’t think he will create a problem for the team as his behaviour is perfect.”
