Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that Napoli could make a move on Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.
Experienced goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis may have recently extended his deal at the club until June 2015, but that doesn’t mean his number one spot is guaranteed for the upcoming season.
New boss Rafael Benitez doesn’t think the veteran is good enough with the ball at his feet and could, therefore, decide to look for a new number one.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Spanish manager is hoping to lure Lazio’s Federico Marchetti to Stadio San Paolo.
The Biancocelesti are not too keen on selling the Italy international, but they are prepared to let him go if a club offer around €15 million.
Federico Marchetti, who joined Lazio from Cagliari two years back, has made 64 Serie A appearances for the club and is widely regarded as one of Italy’s best goalkeepers.
