Walter Mazzarri is content with the progress that his Inter side are making, despite their pre-season defeat to Chelsea.

Mazzarri’s men slipped to a 2-0 loss against the Premier League club in the International Champions Cup pre-season tournament in America, with Oscar and Eden Hazard scoring the goals in the first half.

However, the former Napoli manager still took plenty of positives from his side’s performance, and he believes that they are getting closer to playing in the style he desires.

“I’m very happy with the way my team played. We started strongly but weren’t able to open the scoring,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’m trying to get the team playing a certain way and we managed to take the game to our opponents tonight.

“Considering the quality of the opposition we were up against I’m happy.”

Mazzarri will take charge of his first competitive game for Inter on August 25 when they face Genoa at San Siro, but before that they will meet Valencia in their second match of the International Champions Cup in New York on Sunday.
