Messi maintains Bolivia a threat

Argentina star Lionel Messi has expressed caution ahead of his side’s World Cup qualifier in Bolivia on Tuesday night.

Despite currently enjoying a four-point lead over second-placed Colombia at the top of CONMEBOL’s qualification group, with Bolivia second-from-bottom, the Barcelona superstar refused to accept the result was a foregone conclusion.

“We have achieved nothing yet. We are playing Bolivia and they are hard to surpass,” he told reporters on Monday.

The 25-year-old cited Argentina’s last trip to Bolivia for a World Cup qualifier in 2009 – which saw the South American giants thrashed 6-1 – as sufficient evidence to back up his claims their clash in La Paz was no walkover.

“Everybody knows what happened last time so we are hopeful to clinch a positive result,” the maestro said.

Argentina will travel to the Estadio Hernando Siles to take on Bolivia on Tuesday.
