Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic says the long Premier Soccer League break may negatively affect his side’s title chances.

The South African top flight is in the middle of an eight-week recess for the festive season and the Africa Cup of Nations.

Vermezovic says the long break has the potential of affecting the momentum that Chiefs have built up, as it may impact on the fitness of players.

“We have been playing well of late and when a team is in good form, it is not always good for the games to be stopped,” the Serbian coach said.

“We will have to start again after the break by building the momentum. These long breaks can affect the fitness of players but there is nothing we can do.”
