Milan´s Ambrosini: Juve clash not decisive

AC Milan’s Massimo Ambrosini does not believe Saturday’s clash with Juventus will decide the outcome of the Serie A title.

Reigning champions and league leaders Milan sit one point above second-placed Juve in the standings, but Antonio Conte’s men from Turin do have a game in hand.

Ambrosini is unwilling to attach too much importance to the teams’ top-of-table clash at San Siro this week.

But the veteran midfielder conceded whichever teams comes out on top will gain a psychological advantage over their rivals.

“It’s an important game in terms of the table, but I don’t think it will be decisive in terms of the title because there are many games left to play,” club captain Ambrosini told Milan’s TV channel.

“Of course, the team that wins will have a psychological advantage but we must face Juventus head-on because teams like Juve must be confronted without fear.”

Milan are still riding high after last week’s 4-0 Champions League round-of-16 first-leg victory over Arsenal.

Nevertheless, Ambrosini feels the club’s exploits in Europe could ultimately prove a hindrance when it comes to trying to retain their league crown.

“I think the fact that Juve have no European commitments is an advantage for them,” he said.

“They play only on a weekly basis and that allows them to be in great condition for every game.”
