Keith Millen felt Crystal Palace showcased “real togetherness and spirit” after their determined Premier League draw at QPR.
Millen took charge of Palace for the third time on a caretaker basis on Saturday when manager Neil Warnock was removed from his post just 24 hours prior to the Loftus Road clash after defeat at the hands of Southampton.
And Palace dug deep to earn a valuable and hard-fought point in their bid for survival at a ground where the hosts had won three consecutive matches.
“It was really important that the lads showed a real togetherness and spirit,” Millen told reporters.
“That’s what we’ve been about for the last two years and you could see the response of the players, I was very proud of them.
“It’s been a shock what happened [Warnock’s exit] so it was important to bounce back and get a result – and we did that.”
Palace had the better of the opening half in a scrappy London derby, with Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha doing excellently up top.
However, Harry Redknapp’s men fought back after the break and went close with efforts from Leroy Fer and Steven Caulker.
