Wigan manager Roberto Martinez says on-loan Arsenal midfielder Ryo Miyaichi is likely to miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.
The Japanese winger was stretchered off in the second half of the club’s 3-0 victory over Everton in the FA Cup sixth round at Goodison Park on Saturday after a heavy challenge with Kevin Mirallas.
The 20-year-old is set to receive the results of a scan on the ankle problem but Wigan have confirmed that Martinez expects to lose the midfielder for the remainder of the season.
Miyaichi’s campaign has been hampered by a string of injuries and the midfielder’s appearance on Saturday was only his fifth of the season in all competitions.
Wigan will take on either Blackburn or Millwall in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
