Real Salt Lake defeated the Montreal Impact 1-0 in the MLS on Wednesday to maintain the new club’s winless start to the season.
Paulo de Araujo Jr scored the only goal from the penalty spot in the 12th minute.
After a corner from the right had gone long, the ball was crossed into the penalty area again and RSL midfielder Will Johnson connected with a diving header.
At close range, Montreal striker Justin Braun stuck out his left hand to stop the ball.
The penalty was given and Paulo Jr made no mistake.
The win was the home side’s fourth in five games and means they lead the Western Conference on nine points.
The Impact have just one point for the season from a draw in March and are second bottom of the Eastern Conference.
