Real Salt Lake have climbed into second spot in the MLS Western Conference, with a 2-1 home win over the Vancouver Whitecaps.
A brace to Alvaro Saborio at the Rio Tinto Stadium in Utah guided the hosts to a victory over their Canadian counterparts, who finished the match with 10 men.
Saborio opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 34 minutes, but the Whitecaps equalised seven minutes after the interval through Jamaican striker Darren Mattocks.
But Saborio responded six minutes later with what proved to be the winner, before Whitecaps goalkeeper Joe Cannon got sent off in the 76th minute.
Salt Lake are now eight points clear of the third-placed Vancouver, and are one point behind conference leaders San Jose, although the Earthquakes have a game in hand.
