MLS: Sporting Kansas City 2 LA Galaxy 2

A late penalty from Omar Bravo has helped Sporting Kansas City snatch a 2-2 draw against the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS on Monday.

The Mexican forward converted the spot-kick in the second minute of stoppage time to help the hosts to a point.

It was the second time that Peter Vermes’ team had come from behind to level after Julio Cesar had cancelled out the first of Seamus Franklin’s brace of goals.

Franklin opened the scoring on 25 minutes when he beat the offside trap to slide under Kansas goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen.

It took the home side until the 72nd minute to level as Brazilian centre-back Cesar volleyed in after the Galaxy failed to clear a corner.

Parity only lasted two minutes before Franklin completed his brace, sliding a shot under the advancing Nielsen after David Beckham played him through.

Kansas thought they were level six minutes from the end when French defender Aurelien Collin headed in, but his goal was ruled offside.

The drama did not end there as Galaxy defender Frankie Hejduk was adjudged to have handled in the area, leaving Bravo to step up and snatch a late point.

Bruce Arena’s Galaxy remain top of the Western Conference despite the draw, while Kansas are three points adrift of the first-placed Columbus Crew in the East.
