David Beckham was on target in the Los Angeles Galaxy’s victory, while Toronto FC and Chicago Fire fought out an exciting draw in the MLS on Saturday.

Beckham netted from 30 yards to put the icing on a 4-1 win for the Galaxy, who now improve to a 4-2-5 record and sit second on the Western Conference table.

The Galaxy trailed after 39 minutes when Omar Gonzalez scored an own goal, but Landon Donovan converted from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time to level proceedings.

Donovan added a second goal shortly after the break and when striker Juan Pablo Angel found the back of the net after 64 minutes to make it 3-1 to the Galaxy, the contest was over.

Beckham then turned back the clock on 86 minutes to land his first goal of the MLS season and wrap up the points.

At BMO Field, the Chicago Fire came from two goals down early in the second half to snatch a point in a 2-2 draw against Toronto FC.

Ecuadorian forward Joao Plata gave Toronto FC the lead in the opening 10 minutes and when Maicon Santos doubled the advantage early in the second the game looked out of the Fire’s reach.

But goals from Marco Pappa and Orr Barouch helped the Fire pinch the draw.

In other matches, FC Dallas continued their excellent recent form with a 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Union, the New England Revolution scored a 1-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps, while the San Jose Earthquakes produced a 3-0 triumph against the Columbus Crew.

DC United and the Colorado Rapids fought out a 1-1 draw, there were no goals in the clash between Real Salt Lake and the Houston Dynamo and Seattle Sounders FC and Portland Timbers also produced a 1-1 scoreline.
