The New York Red Bulls overcame the absence of Thierry Henry to defeat fellow glamour club the Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 in the MLS on Saturday.

The Red Bulls handed the struggling Galaxy a second-straight loss with Joel Lindpere scoring the only goal of the game 19 minutes in while unmarked in the middle of the box.

The Red Bulls, also without suspended centre-back Rafael Marquez, move up to third in the Eastern Conference while the Galaxy are down to seventh in the Western.

The Montreal Impact handed Eastern leaders Sporting Kansas City a second-straight loss with a 2-0 result.

Felipe Martins opened the scoring on the half-hour with a 30-yard bullet before Patrice Bernier made sure of the three points with a 62nd minute penalty.

Real Salt Lake continued their recent dominance over the New England Revolution with a come-from-behind 2-1 win.

The win extended Salt Lake’s unbeaten streak against the Revolution to five games, including 6-0 and 5-0 wins in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

New England struck first with Blake Brettschneider’s goal in the 22nd minute, but Alvaro Saborio soon levelled it and added his second with the winner in the 55th minute.

Western leaders the San Jose Earthquakes fell 2-1 to the Vancouver Whitecaps after they had led through Chris Wondolowski’s opener in the 11th minute.

DC United scored a 2-0 victory over winless Toronto with second-half goals from Chris Pontus and Hamdi Salihi.

Mauro Rosales scored for the Seattle Sounders to lead them to a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union, while the lowly Portland Timbers played out a goalless draw with Columbus Crew.
