MLS wrap: Wondolowski on target again

Chris Wondolowski scored his 27th goal of the season as the San Jose Earthquakes and Portland Timbers played out a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Earthquakes striker Wondolowski netted a penalty in the 24th minute, equalling Roy Lassiter’s MLS record set in 1996.

Bright Dike levelled proceedings for the home side on 67 minutes after cleaning up a rebound from his own shot on San Jose goalkeeper Jon Busch.

Elsewhere, Kenny Cooper scored two goals as the New York Red Bulls accounted for Philadelphia Union 3-0 away from home.

Cooper opened the scoring with a penalty in the 12th minute before Thierry Henry doubled the advantage on 35 minutes.

Cooper put the result beyond doubt after 66 minutes, securing New York’s first win in three matches.

In Montreal, Anthony Soares’ 88th-minute goal handed New England Revolution a 1-0 victory over the Impact.

Chicago Fire hosted DC United in a 1-1 draw, while the Colorado Rapids overcame Houston Dynamo 2-0.

Real Salt Lake and the Vancouver Whitecaps ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
