Modric vows to see out season

Tottenham ace Luka Modric has quashed talk of a January transfer, saying he wants to stay at White Hart Lane until the end of the season.

The Croatian midfielder was pursued doggedly by Chelsea throughout the close season and made it clear he wanted to move to west London, but Spurs owner Daniel Levy rejected all advances for his prized asset.

After a stuttering start to the season Modric has regained his best form and inspired Tottenham to third place in the Premier League, and there had been reports Chelsea were preparing to revive their interest next month.

But the 26-year-old has now revealed he has no desire to relive the uncertainty which plagued him before the most recent transfer window shut and insists he is only willing to consider his long-term future at the end of the season.

“All that is stated in the press I have read, but I have no other knowledge about any alleged offers, I don’t even have the time to bother looking,” Modric told Sportske Novosti.

“Considering all the circumstances, and the primary fact that I do not want to go through what I did over the summer transfer period, I say that almost 100 per cent I will certainly stay at Tottenham until the summer.”

“A small percentage you always have to leave as there is always a theoretical possibility if the club gets such an offer for me that they cannot refuse.”

“However, the reality is that I will stay with Spurs until June and then we will see.”

“All options are then possible, but as far as it is now I am not bothered, I just want to be healthy and playing well, everything else will just go on.”

“The fact I stay at Tottenham means nothing will change in my relationship with Spurs and I still give everything in each game.”
