Smelling a real chance to extend on their recent purple patch, Monaco will make the trip to an empty La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau on Sunday night.

Starting with the hosts, putting in a worrying display last weekend and getting hit with a deserved 2-0 defeat against Ligue 1 returners Metz, Nantes have continued on a woeful run of form. Really failing to find any form on either side of France’s festive break, Les Canaris find themselves at the heart of a relegation scrap. Now sat just three points adrift of falling into the drop zone, Head Coach Raymond Domenech finds his side in the midst of a 12-match winless run, a run that stems back to November 8th. Facing a stern test when a high-flying Monaco come to town this weekend, Nantes should also be worried by their record against Sunday’s guests. Including a 2-1 defeat when they faced off against Monaco back in September, they have lost each of their last five meetings against the European chasers.

As for the visitors, while Nantes might be a side desperately seeking some level of form, Monaco should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Making a string of improvements since turning to former Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovač, the resurging French giants have a Champions League return at the top of their agenda. Really laying down another maker on home soil last weekend, the Monégasques picked up a 3-1 romp against Marseille and they have continued on quite the purple patch. Finding a clinical edge in the final third, Monaco have won each of their last four Ligue 1 contests on the spin, bagging at least a trio of strikes in all four of those victories. Unbeaten since the middle of December and given their rampant record against a struggling Nantes, we’re backing a similar home win on Sunday night.
