Monaco in new assault on Valdes

Catalan daily Sport understands that Monaco are preparing a January assault on Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

It is no secret the Principality Club are searching for a new shot-stopper and they don’t seem to have been impressed by summer signing Sergio Romero.

The French giants are, therefore, set to reignite their interest in long-term target Victor Valdes, who has refused to change his mind after disclosing that he would leave Barcelona.

The Spaniard has less than a year left on his deal at Camp Nou and even if he will be available on a free next summer, Monaco aim to try and sign him at the earliest opportunity.

Valdes continues to be linked with a number of English Premier League clubs, but the French side plan to make him an offer he can’t refuse.

The 31-year-old will be in action later today when Barcelona face Rayo Vallecano away and he is 11/10 to keep the third clean sheet of the campaign.
