Montpellier president Louis Nicollin has confirmed reports that star striker Olivier Giroud can leave the club at the end of the season.
The highly rated forward has seen his name linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs, before expressing his desire to leave MHSC for greener pastures at the end of the season.
Montpellier fans believed that the France international could change his mind after the club secured the Ligue 1 title, but such a scenario doesn’t look likely.
A number of MHSC players have attracted attention from top European clubs following the brilliant Ligue 1 campaign, but club president Louis Nicollin says only two of them have permission to leave.
“The only one who can leave, it’s Olivier Giroud, because he has a clause”, Nicollin told TV show Stade 2.
“Then there is Mapou too, because we promised we would let him go if there was a good offer.
“But these are the only two who could leave and it is not yet certain that they are going.”
Ligue 1 top scorer Giroud was heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich, but the Bavarians appear to be out of the race after agreeing a deal to sign Claudio Pizarro from Werder.
Defender Yanga-Mbiwa is followed by a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
