Inter president Massimo Moratti has refused to assure the long-term future of struggling coach Claudio Ranieri.

The Milan side are in the midst of a disastrous run of form, having lost six of their last seven games while recording a draw in the other.

Speculation has been rife that the club are set to dispense with manager Ranieri and Moratti admits that he does not know what will happen in the long term.

“Let’s try to move forward with him, then we’ll see what happens,” Moratti told reporters.

“It’s a difficult moment, but it will pass.”

Rumours have also focused on the club’s search for financial backing from foreign sources, though Moratti says he is solely contending with affairs on the pitch.

“We’ll think about those things in due course. For now we’re focused on the sporting issues,” he said.

Inter face a difficult trip to Napoli on Sunday in Serie A having been knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Walter Mazzarri’s men at Stadio San Paolo a month ago.
