Moyes concerned by Everton´s transfer failures

Everton manager David Moyes fears the club’s lack of progress in the transfer market will damage his plans for the new season.

Moyes has yet to make a single signing since May and chairman Bill Kenwright was forced to plead for patience last week after fans began to vent their frustrations in the Merseyside media.

Everton’s targets, including Sporting Lisbon winger Joao Moutinho and Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher, have either been out of the club’s price range or unwilling to move to Goodison Park.

Moyes, whose team have been on tour in America, will renew his efforts to bring in fresh faces but he fears it is too late to seal any major deals before the new season kicks-off on August 16.

“I was hoping to have added to the squad by now and brought a few in to give the players a lift,” Moyes said. “It’s not just a new face we need – it’s new faces.

“My big concern is that anybody we bring in now probably won’t be ready to start the Premier League season.

“It’s now getting to the stage where you are wondering how long it takes for new players to settle, etc.

“I’m hoping we will have some in (before the start of the season).

“But I’m not going to turn around and say I am totally confident because you never know what happens.”
