Zambia defender Joseph Musonda said he is hoping to recover quickly, after injuring his ankle during the Africa Cup of Nations final.
The defender wept uncontrollably as he wobbled off the pitch against Ivory Coast, in his 100th appearance for Zambia and was consequently ruled out for six weeks.
Speaking with KickOff.com after returning from Zambia to Premier Soccer League side Golden Arrows at the weekend, Musonda said he is happy with his nation’s success, but disappointed to return to work with a long-term injury.
“I feel bad with the injury, especially as it came while my club is not doing well. I don’t know what is happening (at Arrows), but maybe it’s a matter of bad luck. The team is playing well but we are failing to get the results,” Musonda said.
“I may have been ruled out of action for the next six weeks but I believe I will come back sooner than expected.”
