Napoli end interest in Klaassen

Sky Italia is reporting that Napoli have abandoned their efforts to sign long-term target Davy Klaassen from Everton.

The attacking midfielder had earlier rejected the Azzurri and went on to join the Toffees from Ajax, but he was recently linked with a loan move to Stadio San Paolo.

Napoli made their move after finding out the Dutch footballer was available for loan, but once again failed to lure him to Italy.

Namely, while the image rights issue was also a potential deal breaker, the Azzurri decided to end their interest when they found out Klaassen was cup-tied for Europa League.

Having also failed in their bid to sign Matteo Politano from Sassuolo, Napoli will be quite busy in the final hours of the winter transfer market.
