Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri insists he is ready to fight for his first-team place next season.
The France international scored just two goals in 28 Premier League appearances last term, and will now face added competition for places with Jesus Navas and Fernandinho having joined the midfield ranks.
A drop in performance from many of City’s key players last term saw them surrender their Premier League title to Manchester United, but the Frenchman is confident of retaining top spot in England next term.
In a Twitter Q&A, Nasri said: “Of course I’m up to the challenge and the competition will just make us better.
“When you are a player, you have ambition and you play for this kind of competition. Of course I am ready to challenge. If not, I will be in my neighbourhood playing with my friends.
“I am convinced that we can win the Premier League. That is why I chose this club. I am really confident about what we can achieve together.”
