Newcastle to press on with Wissa transfer after Brentford agree Outtara deal

According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle are set to advance in their plan to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford as soon as possible. The Bees have agreed a deal with Bournemouth to sign Dango Outtara as a replacement.

With the Premier League season starting this weekend, Wissa will not be a part of Brentford’s squad to face Nottingham Forest on Sunday, newly appointed boss Keith Andrews has confirmed.

Newcastle have similar problems too, with Alexander Isak currently refusing to train with the team and determined not to play for the club again amid interest from Liverpool. This obviously makes the Wissa business even more pressing, with manager Eddie Howe currently without a designated striker.

The Magpies have already had one offer for Wissa rejected by Brentford this summer, with the 28-year-old DR Congo international initially seen as a replacement for Callum Wilson, who left the club as a free agent at the end of 2024/25. They were also linked with Hugo Ekitike before the ex-Eintracht Frankfurt forward completed a move to Liverpool.

So with Wilson gone, Isak wanting out, and Ekitike off the table, Newcastle desperately need to boost their striker ranks, and it won’t be a surprise if they move for another name after signing Wissa.
