Although Roberto De Zerbi might have gained a string of plaudits after replacing Graham Potter at Brighton back in September 2022, the Italian tactician is already looking for a new adventure.

While there might have been plenty of speculation over his long-term future at the Amex, it was officially confirmed last week that the 44-year-old would be leaving the Seagulls at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Still with two years left on his current deal with Brighton, many across the Premier League were shocked by what felt like a spontaneous announcement.

Guiding Brighton to a sixth-place finish last season and spearhead their charge for a maiden European adventure, the former Shakhtar Donetsk boss appears to be a man in demand.

With Europe’s managerial merry-go-round now firmly underway, we have taken a look at some of the most likely destinations for De Zerbi.

Replacing Poch in SW6

Winning all of their final five Premier League appearances and remarkably securing Europa League football for next season, it appeared that Mauricio Pochettino was finally starting to find some stability at Stamford Bridge.

However, much like De Zerbi’s shock announcement last week, the footballing world was left stunned as it was officially confirmed that the former Tottenham boss would be leaving Chelsea just a year after arriving in SW6.

Rumoured to have been at the heart of major battle behind the scenes with the Stamford Bridge hierarchy, Chelsea’s search for a new boss is well underway and it appears they have accumulated a stacked list of options.

Although there might be continued speculation that the likes of Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna and Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim are in contention, De Zerbi has plenty of admirers in west London and is seen as a serious candidate.

With Chelsea already recruiting a host of Brighton’s sharpest minds over the past few months in an attempt to bolster their recruitment team, The Standard are reporting that De Zerbi is seen as the standout contender to replace Pochettino is west London.

Taking the reigns from ten Hag

While it might have been immediately suggested following De Zerbi’s exit from Brighton that German giants Bayern Munich were sat in the driving seat to snap up the 44-year-old, it has been suggested that the Italian tactician is keen on extended his stay in the Premier League.

Although Manchester United might have an FA Cup final showdown on the cards this weekend when they travel to Wembley, it is no secret that Erik ten Hag has found a huge amount of pressure on his shoulders this season.

With it now appearing increasingly likely that the former Ajax boss will be removed from the Old Trafford dugout over the summer, United’s new hierarchy appear to already be planning for life after ten Hag.

With it suggested that the Premier League giants are looking to move in a more possession-based direction, Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that De Zerbi would jump at the chance to take charge in the red half of Manchester.

Suggesting that De Zerbi’s number-one priority is to dethrone ten Hag at Old Trafford, it has also been suggested that United’s new ownership model have identified the ex-Sassuolo boss as a genuine candidate.

Kompany wins the race for Munich hot seat

With it once again confirmed last week that Thomas Tuchel would be leaving the Allianz at the end of the season, it appeared that De Zerbi was sat in pole position to secure a blockbuster move to Bayer Munich.

However, although it might have been reported that the now-former Brighton manager was keen on securing a move to the German giants, it seems that they have turned their attention to another Premier League boss.

With Bayern encountering major frustration in their hunt to find a replacement for Tuchel, it now appears almost certain that Burnley’s Vincent Kompany will complete an astonishing move to Bavaria over the coming days.

While the Clarets might have suffered an immediate Championship return this season as they lost their Premier League status on the penultimate weekend, it has been reported that Bayern believe the ex-Manchester City skipper can blossom into one of Europe’s best managers.

Although Kompany might have been far from Bayern’s first choice to replace Tuchel, it appears the Burnley boss has edged out De Zerbi in the bid to take charge at the Allianz.
