Serie A outfit Palermo have sacked coach Devis Mangia.

Palermo confirmed the dismissal on their website in the wake of their 2-0 Serie A loss to regional rivals Catania on Sunday.

The 37-year-old Mangia was appointed at the start of the season, but he was unable to guide the Sicilians to success in the first half of the campaign.

Palermo are 10th in the table with 20 points from 15 games, while they were eliminated from the Coppa Italia by Siena earlier this month.

It’s not yet known who will replace Mangia as the new coach, but a number of reports from Italy suggest that Bortolo Mutti is sitting in pole position to take the reins at the Renzo Barbera.

Mutti has been out of work since leaving Bari at the end of last season.
