Pardew blasts Blanc for Cabaye comments

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has criticised Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc’s public courtship of Yohan Cabaye.

Blanc name-dropped Cabaye when confirming he was looking to strengthen his midfield options ahead of next season as PSG look to defend their Ligue 1 crown.

But Pardew has blasted the Frenchman’s comments and has requested that Blanc contact him directly if he wishes to make a move.

He told The Shields Gazette: “He can get on the phone to me, or make a bid. I think that’s the right way to do it.

“I think the way it’s come out isn’t perhaps respectful to Yohan. That’s something I want to talk to him about.

“I want to talk about this important year for him, with the World Cup at the end of it.

“I’m hoping he’s going to be an integral part (of France’s team).”

Cabaye is likely to be just one of a few Newcastle players featuring in Brazil next year and Pardew has challenged his international players to boost their chances of playing in the World Cup by performing to their best at St James’ Park.

“You could argue we’ll have eight to 10 players in the World Cup,” he added.

“So this is a massive year for our players individually, let alone as a club.

“Our fans must never take their eyes off the fact that international football plays a significant part in our season.

“For example, if Hatem (Ben Arfa) gets in the French national team, you can imagine what it would do for his confidence.

“So they’re all things I want to happen.

“I want Hatem to play at a World Cup. I think he can play for France. I think Cabaye can play for France. I think Moussa (Sissoko) could play for France next year, and maybe even Mapou (Yanga-Mbiwa).

“He’s got the experience. If he had a fantastic year this year, he could make it.”
