Estudiantes have announced on their official website that they have signed Benfica winger Enzo Perez on a six-month loan deal.

The 25-year-old left the Argentine club for a Portuguese adventure in the off-season, but a knee injury restricted him to just four competitive appearances during the first half of the 2011-12 season.

Perez aired his desire to return to Estudiantes in December, and ignored instructions to return to Benfica after the mid-season break.

He flew to Lisbon in mid-January to make peace with the club and it appeared he would regain his place in the squad for the second half of the campaign.

However, Perez has been forced to return to his homeland as his mother is in poor health, prompting Estudiantes to secure the player’s services on loan.
