Alain Perrin is the new coach of the Qatar Olympic team following Paulo Autuori’s promotion to the senior job.

The 55-year-old former Olympique Lyonnais, Portsmouth and Marseille coach has recently been coaching Al Khor in Qatar.

The Qatar Football Association (QFA) confirmed the appointment on Sunday, with Perrin to resume his duties once his commitments with Al Khor in the Gulf Clubs Championships are completed.

Perrin’s first task will be to lead the team in friendlies against UAE on June 5 and 7 ahead of the AFC Under-22 qualifiers in Malaysia.

Autuori has been doubling up his duties as senior and Olympic coach after taking over the reins in February following Sebastiao Lazaroni’s dismissal in December.

Meanwhile, the Qatari national team are continuing their camp in Madrid ahead of their friendly against Albania on Tuesday.

The game is being used as preparation for their opening final round 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
