Nils Petersen has hinted he could leave Bayern Munich on a permanent basis at the end of the 2012/13 campaign.

The 23-year-old striker moved to the Allianz Arena from Energie Cottbus in 2011, but failed to make an impact in his first season at the Bavarian giants, and was consequently shipped out on loan to Werder Bremen for the upcoming season.

As well as moving temporarily to the Westerstadion, Petersen extended his Bayern contract until 2015, but is unsure whether he will represent the club again.

“It states in the contract that I will transfer back on 30 June, but where I will play in a year’s time is dependent on many factors,” Petersen told the official Werder Bremen website.

“Therefore I am not even thinking about next year. My wish is to score as many goals as possible. That is also a factor that has a big influence.

“If I only score five goals this season then I don’t need to go back to Bayern. Then I can delete Munich from my GPS.”

Petersen netted twice in nine Bundesliga appearances last term.
