Genoa’s Krysztof Piatek has played down reports about interest from Barcelona, according to Sky Sports.
Piatek opened the scoring for his team in their 1-3 defeat at home to Parma on Sunday, and in that way he became the first player since Gabriel Batistuta to score in each of his opening seven games in Serie A. To match the feat of the Argentinian legend he will have to find the net in the next four matches as well.
Nicknamed “the new Lewanowski”, Piatek has attracted attention from a number of clubs, including Bayern Munich and Barcelona, even though he only arrived to Genoa this summer for a reported fee of €4million. The two clubs are looking for long-term successors to Robert Lewandowski and Luis Suarez.
However, when asked, Piatek revealed he didn’t believe any reports linking him with Barcelona. All he is doing at the moment is focusing on the next training session without looking too far ahead.
