Pirlo hoping for Juventus improvement

Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo feels the club must be ambitious if they are to improve and have a chance of European success next season.

The Serie A champions were eliminated from this year’s UEFA Champions League at the quarter-final stage by finalists Bayern Munich.

However, Pirlo, who won the competition with Milan in 2003 and 2007, feels Antonio Conte’s men can reach the summit of European football if they are prepared to think big.
He told Corriere dello Sport: “This year we saw the gap that measures between us and the other great teams in Europe, but we came up against a very strong Bayern side who have got to the final sweeping past Barcelona.
“We need to grow and improve – but we will do that. To win the Champions League is tough, but we have to think big.”
Speaking about his future, the 33-year-old refused to rule out a move to another country, but insisted Conte’s position at the Juventus Stadium was never in question after the Juventus boss confirmed he would be staying at the club on Thursday.
“Never say never. When I get older I might make a choice like Del Piero did,” Pirlo added.
“In the past I have been on the verge of transfers abroad and I always thought it would be a positive experience.

“Personally, I never had any doubt about Conte’s future here. He will be the coach of Juve for many years.”
