Portsmouth made a triple swoop for Tottenham midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, Lens striker Aruna Dindane and Wigan midfielder Michael Brown on Friday.

On a frantic day of transfer activity at Fratton Park, boss Paul Hart began to spend the money given to him by the club’s new Arab owner Sulaiman Al Fahim, who completed his takeover of the Premier League outfit earlier this week.

Boateng, who has dual German-Ghanaian nationality, signed a three-year contract and is reported to have cost Portsmouth four million pounds.

He made just 24 appearances in two years at Tottenham and spent half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, but Hart said: “Kevin’s a good player and I’m thrilled that we’ve managed to get him here.

“He’s a young player who wants to prove something. Like all the players we’ve brought in, he’s got something to prove.”

Ivory Coast striker Dindane moved to Pompey on a season’s loan, with an option for a permanent deal at the end of the current campaign.

Dindane revealed that speaking to his compatriot Didier Drogba, who stars for Chelsea, persuaded him to make the switch to English football.

“I’m friends with Didier. I spoke to him on the phone and he said I was making a great choice coming to Pompey.” Dindane told Portsmouth’s website.

“They’ve been interested in me since 2003 so I’m very happy to sign. My integration will be fine because there are a lot of French-speaking players in the dressing room. That’s a big help for me.”

Brown, 32, arrived for a nominal fee and agreed a two-year contract with an option for a further year.

“Michael’s a player who has shown he can perform at this level,” Hart said. “He’s very combative and someone who I’ve admired for many years. He’ll add plenty of steel to our side.”
