Hull City slipped to defeat in their penultimate game of pre-season as they were brushed aside 2-0 by Eintracht Braunschweig on Tuesday.
The German outfit scored both goals in the second half as they ran out comfortable winners, strikers Orhan Ademi and Gianluca Korte netting for Torsten Lieberknecht’s men.
Sunderland loanee Danny Graham, Maynor Figueroa and trialist Eric Tie Bi were all included by Hull manager Steve Bruce as they continued their preparations for life back in the Premier League.
The visitors started well and had the best chance after 17 minutes, Robbie Brady hitting the bar from the edge of the area.
Braunschweig responded positively, though, and could have taken the lead themselves seven minutes later, but midfielder Bjorn Kluft could only fire wide after the Hull defence failed to deal with a Damir Vrancic free-kick.
Both sides struggled to create any major openings in the remainder of the first half, but it was Braunschweig – who were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal in the first round on Sunday – who established control in the second.
Hull made six changes during the interval, David Meyler and Robert Koren among those to enter the fray, however, Braunschweig soon seized the initiative as Ademi tapped in Mirko Boland’s shot across goal after 53 minutes.
Bruce’s men continued to press, Graham going close two minutes before the hour, but Braunschweig made sure of the win five minutes from time as Korte headed in a cross from Benjamin Kessel.
