Kingsley Boateng’s second-half strike clinched a 1-0 pre-season victory for Milan over Sao Paulo at the Allianz Arena on Thurrsday.

Youth-team striker Boateng struck six minutes after coming on as a subsitute to seal third place in the Audi Cup for the 18-time Serie A champions.

The 19-year-old received a pass from Urby Emanuelson before sliding his finish under Denis and into the bottom corner.

Massimiliano Allegri made wholesale changes to the side that was beaten 5-3 by Manchester City on Wednesday, with only five players starting.

One of those was goalkeeper Marco Amelia, and the 31-year-old had a solid opening half denying Silvinho, Maicon and Aloisio twice.

Milan rarely tested Denis in the Sao Paulo goal in the opening half, but that changed after the break as the Italians broke the deadlock with their first attack of the second half.

Boateng’s strike was the highlight of the second half, with the Brazilian side having some excellent chances but failing to stretch Amelia.

Maicon lashed a free-kick wide and a lack of composure from the Brazilians ensured that they would leave Munich as the last-placed team of the tournament.
