Valencia and Villarreal will lock horns with each other in La Liga this week. The match between Ruben Baraja’s side and Marcelino’s team will be held at Camp de Mestalla and is scheduled to kick off at 8:30 pm UK time on Tuesday.

Valencia

Valencia are one of the biggest clubs in Spain, but things are not going well for Los Che at the moment. They finished as low as 16th in the league table last season, and although things are better now, they are nowhere near to where they should be.

Ruben Baraja’s side are 10th in the La Liga table at the moment with 23 points from 18 matches. Valencia are as many as 15 points behind fourth-placed Barcelona and are not going to end up in the UEFA Champions League places in the league table.

Valencia will head into the La Liga match against Villarreal this week on the back of a 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano away from home in La Liga. It came after a 1-1 draw with Barcelona in front of their fans in the league which followed a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Getafe on the road in La Liga.

Team News:

Valencia are likely to line up in a 4-4-2 formation against Villarreal. Giorgi Mamardashvili will be in goal for Los Che. Thierry Correia is suspended after getting sent off against Rayo Vallecano and will be replaced in the team at right-back by Dimitri Foulquier. Mouctar Diakhaby and Cristhian Mosquera will be the two centre-backs. Jesus Vazquez will be the left-back. Diego Lopez, Hugo Guillamon, Pepelu and Sergi Canos will be the four midfielders. Hugo Duro and Selim Amallah will be the two forwards.

Villarreal

Villarreal are a big club in Spain who tend to do well and have high expectations of them. The Yellow Submarine also play good football. Marcelino’s side finished as high as fifth in the La Liga table last season.

Things, though, are tricky for Villarreal at the moment. They are as low as 13th in the league table with 19 points from 18 matches, just six points above the bottom three. It is unlikely that they will end up in the European places in the La Liga table this season.

Villarreal will head into the La Liga match against Valencia this week on the back of a 3-2 victory over Celta de Vigo at home in the league. It came after a 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga which followed a 3-2 victory over Rennes in UEFA Europa League.

Team News:

Villarreal are likely to line up in a 4-4-2 formation. Filip Jorgensen will be the goalkeeper. Adria Altimira, Raul Albiol, Aissa Mandi and Alfonso Pedraza will be the four defenders. Ilias Akhomach, Santi Comesana, Dani Parejo and Alberto Moreno will be the four midfielders. Alex Baena and Alexander Sorloth will be the two forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Valencia have lost 2 of their last 5 La Liga games.
  • Valencia have scored 19 goals in 18 La Liga games this season.
  • Gerard Moreno has scored 8 goals and given 2 assists in 15 La Liga matches for Villarreal this season.
  • Alexander Sorloth has scored 6 goals and given 2 assists in 16 La Liga matches for Villarreal this season.
  • Villarreal have won 2 and lost 2 of their last 5 La Liga games.

Conclusion

Neither Valencia nor Villarreal are in good form at the moment. There is not much difference between the two teams. It is very likely that the game will end in a draw.

Prediction: Match to end in 1-1 draw
