Premier League Preview: Hull City v Fulham

Fulham lost their only two Premier League games at Hull City and could do with setting the record straight at the KC Stadium on Saturday.

Former Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard returned to haunt the London club when he scored in the last meeting between the two sides, with Hull 2-0 winners in March 2010.

Hull also marked their first appearance in the top flight with a 2-1 win over the Craven Cottage club in August 2008, so the KC Stadium has not been a happy hunting ground for Fulham.

Rene Meulensteen’s side make the journey north on the back of a morale-boosting 2-1 victory at Norwich City on Boxing Day.

With the match looking likely to finish in a 1-1 draw, Scott Parker secured three points for Fulham with a superb arching effort from 25 yards.

The win was Fulham’s third on the road in the Premier League this season, as Meulensteen’s charges continue their battle against relegation.

With just two league victories at Craven Cottage, Meulensteen will hope the tide continues to turn in order to preserve Fulham’s top-flight status.

Dimitar Berbatov is battling to shake off a groin injury, but influential skipper Brede Hangeland (back) will definitely play no part.

Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg (ankle) missed the Norwich game and has already been ruled out of the trip to Hull. David Stockdale replaced Stekelenburg in the Fulham side and is set to continue.

Hull come into the game on the back of a battling 3-2 loss against Manchester United on Boxing Day, with James Chester’s own goal settling the contest, the centre-back having earlier opened the scoring for Steve Bruce’s side after just four minutes.

Bruce’s men have been hard to beat on their return to the top flight and boasted the best defensive record at home in the Premier League before the visit of the champions.

Despite the fight shown against United, Hull have now gone five Premier League games without a win and are just four points above the relegation zone. Hull, though, have still lost only twice at the KC Stadium in the league.

Midfielder Robbie Brady (groin) and Stephen Quinn (hamstring) are expected to miss out once again for Bruce’s men. Goalkeeper Allan McGregor was forced off at half-time against United following a collision with Ashley Young and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit to play, with Steve Harper ready to deputise again if called upon.
