Premier League title not out of reach, claims Lampard

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard claims his side can still set their sights on winning the Premier League title this season.

Andre Villas-Boas’ men sit fourth on the table after a 1-0 win over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge saw them move four points above Arsenal, who travel to Swansea City on Sunday.

However, league leaders Manchester City lie eight points above the Blues and will regain their 11-point advantage over the London club with a victory against Wigan Athletic on Monday.

“It’s a battle to win every game,” Lampard told talkSPORT. “I don’t like us ever taking our sights off the idea of being champions.”

“It’s a long way to go and there’s a gap there now, we know that, but we have to take each (game as it comes), the old cliche. Top four has to be a minimum for us but we want to look higher than that.”

Lampard was pleased to score the winner and take his goal tally for the season to 11 against Martin O’Neill’s side on Saturday.

“It was nice that (my goal) won the game for us,” he said. “I think Fernando (Torres) was very unlucky with my goal, he hit it so well and it came off my knee in the end but I’m just delighted it gave us the win.”

“We haven’t had a good win at home for a while and it was very important today (to get one).”
