QPR keen on Posh keeper

Peterborough’s England under-21 international goalkeeper Joe Lewis could be heading to QPR in the January transfer window.

Lewis is out of contract at London Road at the end of the season, and would be free to leave The Posh for nothing.

Therefore the Championship side may be willing to sell Lewis next month, in an attempt to generate funds for manager Darren Ferguson.

Peterborough’s Director of Football Barry Fry has revealed that Lewis was on trial at QPR last week, taking part in a reserve-team friendly.

He is expected to return to Loftus Road this week for Neil Warnock to take a further look at the 24-year-old.

Speaking to Peterborough Today, Fry said: “QPR manager Neil Warnock asked if they could take a look at Joe at close quarters and our manager and the chairman agreed.”

“He was there last week and will be going back there on Monday.”

“That’s as far as it has gone. No offers have been made, but Joe is out of contract at the end of the season when we face losing him for nothing.”

“He played in a reserve-team game for them and did well.”

QPR have suffered a goalkeeping crisis of late with injuries to first-choice stopper Paddy Kenny and back-up keeper Brian Murphy.

Radek Cerny started in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Liverpool.
