Ranieri confirms Monaco interest in Beckham; Loic Remy drops Newcastle hint

Ranieri confirms Monaco interest in Beckham

Monaco boss Claudio Ranieri has admitted that he would love to see David Beckham join the French giants.

The English superstar has been out of contract since leaving La Galaxy on 1st December and has been pondering his options ever since.

French Ligue 2 side were believed to be keen on the veteran midfielder and Claudio Ranieri has now added fuel to speculations linking Beckham with a switch to Monaco.

“He (Beckham) would be useful in all aspects of the evolution of the club,” the Italian coach told Le Parisien.

“He could transmit his passion to our young players, and show that, at 37 years of age, he continues to improve and be professional.

“Every young player needs an experienced coach, but also examples in the dressing room.”

Monaco currently occupy the second place in the Ligue 2 standings and there are no doubts the arrival of Beckham would be a huge boost for the club as they attempt to return to old glory days.

Loic Remy drops Newcastle hint

Marseille forward Loic Remy has all but confirmed speculations linking him with a move to St James Park.

The France international is widely expected to leave Stade Velodrome in the January transfer window and he is courted by a number of English Premier League clubs.

Tottenham and West Ham are believed to be keen, but it appears that Newcastle have moved in front of the queue.

Speaking to reporters in France, Remy admitted that he could leave Marseille in the winter transfer window.

“The window opens in January, and there’ll be speculation from now until the window closes – if I have to leave then all parties must be happy,” Remy said.

Remy than dropped a hint that Newcastle were in pole position to win the race for his signature.

“Newcastle are a very good team. They’re a big club with good players, very good fans and a nice stadium that’s always full.”

Loic Remy has spent last two and a half seasons at Stade Velodrome, during which he scored 28 goals in 74 Ligue 1 appearances.

Benzema rubbishes Real exit talk

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has categorically denied reports linking him with a summer exit from Santiago Bernabeu.

Having somewhat failed to fulfill his potential at Santiago Bernabeu, the French forward has been constantly linked with a move away from the club.

However, Benzema reveals he has no plans to leave los Merengues in the foreseeable future.

“I know nothing of it. I fell very well at Real Madrid and I am where I want to be,” Benzema told France Football.

“This club is still my dream and I don’t have another club in mind. It’s the biggest club in the world and our mutual history is not over yet.”

The France international has a contract until June 2015 at Santiago Bernabeu and it looks as though he will not be leaving any time soon.

Benzema has been struggling for form this season, having netted just 3 times in 13 La Liga appearances.
